Report: High-Level Humanitarian Coordination Meeting
January 6, 2025The HOSPO PART RNA Assignment aims to address the urgent needs of individuals displaced by the ongoing conflict in Somalia’s Bari region, with a particular focus on the vulnerable communities of Iskushuban and Qadalla and district of Bosaso. This critical initiative is spearheaded by UN OCHA (United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) and brings together a diverse coalition of humanitarian actors, including UN agencies, international organizations, and local NGOs.
Participating organizations include prominent entities such as UNICEF, CARE, NRC, Oxfam, SRCS,Kaalo, FPDO, HOSPO, SEDO, MOHDM, AWVI, and others.
Objectives and Scope of the Assignment
The primary objective of the RNA is to assess and address the pressing needs of displaced populations, focusing on key areas such as:
• Shelter: Providing safe and dignified living conditions for displaced families.
• Food Security: Ensuring access to adequate nutrition and combating hunger among affected populations.
• Health and Sanitation: Delivering critical healthcare services and promoting safe hygiene practices to prevent disease outbreaks.
• Access to Clean Water: Establishing sustainable water sources and distribution systems to support daily needs.
• Education: Supporting children’s access to learning opportunities despite displacement challenges.
Collaborative Efforts
The coordinated response involves leveraging the strengths and expertise of each partner organization. Local NGOs such as HOSPO play a vital role in understanding community dynamics and delivering context-specific solutions. International organizations provide resources, technical support, and strategic guidance, while UN agencies ensure alignment with global humanitarian standards.
